Slashers U8 Match Reports
It was a busy weekend for our teams.
Our first and second teams comprise of players from Gaelscoil, St. Emer’s, St. Joseph’s and St. John’s. They travelled to play Northern Gaels on Friday evening. The players on duly were, Aine Barry, Jessica Barry, Jack Mangan, Reece Small, Ronan Kenny, Fred Davis, Stephen O’Brien, Barry O’Brien, Reece Small, Ryan O’Kane, Daire O’Brien, Liam Morgan, Damon Quinn and Lee Jordan. Our third team comprise players from Stonepark and Melview. They travelled to Ballymore on Friday evening and also took part in a blitz in Carrickedmond on Sunday afternoon. The players for this team were Darragh Maher, Feidhlim Maher, Cian O’Nuallain, Tadgh McNiven, Peader Kenny, Donal Sheahan, James Murphy, Diarmuid Sheahan, Ronan Sheahan. Each team played some excellent football in closely contested matches. In their second game of the season, they showed a lot of improvement and everybody involved played their part in the games.
On Sunday the Stonepark/Melview team played 5 matches in the Carrickedmond blitz, losing 1 game, drawing 1 game and winning 3 games. In the first game, the team lost narrowly to Granard 1 Team. However, they were unbeaten after that, drawing with St. Francis and winning against Carrick Sarsfields 1 & 2 and Granard 2. Every single member of the squad played some great football. Darragh Maher was excellent in goals and also in defence in later games. Cian O’Nuallain was outstanding at the back. Tadgh McNiven, Diarmuid Sheahan and Peadar Kenny were prominent throughout. Feidhlim Maher, Ronan Sheahan, Donal Sheahan & James Murphy all played very well, with each player getting on the scoresheet. It was a very enjoyable day and all the players improved with each game. Well done to everyone in Carrick Sarsfileds for organising a very well run & enjoyable day.
