Under 14 Update 21/04/2008

Two good wins for Slashers U/14 teams at Div 1 and 3 over the weekend. The run began at Edgeworthstown on Fri evening when the Div 1 team proved too strong for Edgeworthstown in an away game. Eliot Brady kept a clean sheet in the 1st half and the new midfield pair of Brian Walsh and Colm Farrell dominated the early exchanges. Some of our players really pushed out the boat like Darren Kelly who is growing into a very able half back. The reliables like Patrick Farrell, Adrian Duffy and Killian Bartley kept us safe in the second half when the home team began to come back.

On Sunday the Div 3 team were out against a formidable Killoe. Daniel Doherty in goal was very safe while Shane Rodgers, Conor Lawlor (2 pts) and Cillian Farrell gave some exhibition football. The Clarke brothers were always dangerous with Sean leading the scoring on the day. Louis Herterich was tigerish along with Ryan Mangan in the forwards. There is a great team spirit in this team with players like Conor Raleigh & Sean Costelloe determined to do well and progress to the Div 1 team.

The Div 1 team meet Northern Gaels next Fri evening which will be a test given that a few players are nursing injuries.
