Longford Slashers Minor Club Meeting

Wednesday, 2nd January 2008

There was a good attendance at the monthly minor club meeting.  Newly elected Chairman Kieran Dalton opened the meeting by welcoming everybody and wished all mentors and club officials the best of luck in the coming year.  Kieran then thanked Martin Mangan, Paddy O’Connor, Damien Bartley, Eddie Maher and Ollie Barry for all there help on the day and organising of the underage Christmas Party in the Club the week before Christmas while Benny O’Brien was the main contact with “Santa” on the day.

Club Treasurer Damien Bartley gave a brief outline of the Minor Club’s Financial Position at the moment.  Damien Bartley thanked Zac Hackett (The Stillary) for helping with the Raffle of a Club Hamper for the Minor Club.

Newly appointed Senior Club Chairman Donal Brady was then welcomed to the meeting by Kieran Dalton and on behalf of the Minor Club Kieran wished Donal and his committee all the best for the coming year. Donal in return then wished the Minor Club and committee the very best of luck in 2008 and noted that the Senior Club will do whatever they can to help the Minor Club and noted that these young players have to be looked after for the next couple of years as they are the future of the Club.

Parish Coach Paddy O’Connor then addressed the meeting and outlined the Coaching Plans for the next 3 months in the club. Full details soon

A discussion took place on team mentors and helpers for 2008 a full list of team mentors to be finalised for the February meeting.

The Longford Slashers Club Website is now back up-and-running. Niall Caslin is looking for people to send in information and any pictures for the website. Website address: www.longfordslashers.com

A short discussion took place on the planned Parent’s Night in early February, and it was decided to put it back for a couple of weeks so that we can get names of parents for our U-8’s and that we can organise the night properly to get a good crowd of parents in attendance.

In ‘Any Other Business’ there were discussions on affiliation/registration, motions to county minor convention and choosing county board delegates.

A letter was received from Angela Kelly thanking the club for their support with Telethon
